Overview

Fanjove Island

Fanjove private island is wonderful uncontaminated nature of a tropical island, 20 miles from the coast, is a tourist destination still unexplored.

Once landed on Songo Songo Island, 40 minutes flight from Dar es Salaam, after a short boat trip, guests will live an unforgettable experience steeping in exotic sensations, Robinson Crusoe’s style. You enter in a paradise dimension; time slows down detaching us completely from everyday life.

The beaches of pure sand and the turquoise water, the light unrolling of the waves, the whistling of the wind that caresses the palms, the unique, shy, and colored Coconut Crab specimens that come out at night, the multicolored species of birds that stop during the migrations will be only one of the several frames and colors

Fanjove Island

Fanjove Island is owned by Selous Safari Company, who also owns the brilliant Siwandu in Selous and Jongomero in Ruaha, and we are pleased to announce that Fanjove has exactly the same vibe. The rooms are deliberately rustic – wooden, solar-powered, and half-open to the elements.

If you still secretly (or not-so-secretly) harbor ambitions of living in Robinson Crusoe style simplicity then the bandas are for you. But if it’s televisions, clean stone lines, and swimming pools that you’re after then this is not your place.

The beach is one of the best in East Africa and for divers or snorkelers, the coral reef presents a chance to explore some as-yet unvisited areas. Snorkeling, diving, and kite-surfing represent the majority of the typical hotel activities on offer at Fanjove island.

This simplicity is continued into the rooms which, although large, consist of a simple bathroom, bed, 2 armchairs, and a day bed up on the balcony, accessible by ladder. But their simplicity is their biggest draw. They epitomize what Fanjove is about.
