3 days Mikumi & Udzungwa Mountains Safari In Southern Tanzania from Zanzibar island, on the north-west side of Selous Game Reserve, lie two small, quite offbeat national parks Mikumi National Park and Udzungwa Mountains National Park
The Udzungwa Mountain National Park, which is 1990 sq. km. Is the first terrestrial National park in Tanzania. It is well known for its biologically diverse forest, with approximately 20 – 30% out of 200 animals and plant species that grow here not found anywhere in the world.
The habitats contained within the national park include tropical rainforest, mountain forest, and miombo woodland. Still, it is a really beautiful place for hiking. It is one of the top ten forests for bird conservation in Africa.
A variety of animal species can be found here, including water buffalo, elephants, and full of reptiles and snakes, and more.
Enjoy your next Holiday in Tanzania by visiting 3 days of Mikumi & Udzungwa Mountains National Park in your own private 4WD with a driver, and You’ll stay in remote and beautiful locations during your safari including Camp Bastian at Mikumi and Vuma Hills Tented Camp at Uduzungwa where you can experience life under canvas
With the wide-open plains of Mikumi National Park and the forested mountains of Udzungwa acting as book-ends to a fascinating exploration of the untamed south.
Mikumi offers ample opportunities to spot the iconic animals, while Udzungwa – sometimes known as Africa’s Galapagos – offers the chance to see animals and plants you’ll see nowhere else on earth.
Flight or Ferry from Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam
With a picnic lunch in tow, you'll make the drive towards the African Galapagos - the Udzungwa Mountains. With a huge variety of endemic wildlife and flora, the park is something, unlike anything you'll see elsewhere in Tanzania.
Not a traditional game-drive destination, you'll instead stretch your legs with a guided hike into the mountains, where you'll enjoy a picnic lunch by a waterfall before spending the night in the park.
After breakfast, you'll make the drive to the Mikumi National Park. Sometimes called the most accessible corner of Selous and sometimes compared favorably to the open plains of the Serengeti, Mikumi is Tanzania's fourth-largest national park and a game viewer's dream.
The Mkata Floodplain is the park's most dominant feature, and it is here that antelope fans will have their best chance to see the powerful Eland in large numbers. Bird watchers will also find a huge variety of feathered favourites within the park, with more than 400 bird species residing within the park's borders.
You’ll continue your safari adventure with a morning game drive in Mikumi. Late morning proceeds to drive to Dar Es Salaam where you will take Ferry or flight back to Zanzibar.
