Covid-19 Zanzibar

From 4th 2021, Zanzibar has opened its borders to all travelers, enabling Tripsbetter to welcome its guests back. 

Please read carefully the following procedures and recommendations issued by the local authority.

Zanzibar entry requirements COVID

• No negative COVID certificate is required upon arrival unless specified by the country of departure or the airline. Find the full details HERE.
• All travelers must also fill in a declaration form of health at this link at least 24h before arrival if you will arrive in Tanzania.
• All travelers will go through a temperature check at the Point of Entry before they are allowed to enter Zanzibar
• All travelers are required to have valid travel insurance for the whole period of their stay
• It is recommended that your online visa form be completed before arrival. Find the eVisa form HERE.
• The Airport Lounge is recommended to be used upon arrival (standard charge is USD 35 per person or VIP from USD 70 per person). Please contact us to make a reservation.
• Maintain a distance of at least 1 meter from one person to another
• Wash your hands regularly with water and soap, or use a hand sanitizer
• Wear a mask at all designated public areas
• All travelers will be subject to enhanced screening for Covid-19 infection. There will be NO 14 days mandatory quarantine upon arrival. 
• All travelers whose countries or airlines require to get tested for Covid-19 and turn negative, as a condition for traveling, will be required to present a certificate upon arrival.

Where to test for Covid in Zanzibar?

4. Makunduchi COVID-19 testing center – South Unguja
5. Pwani Mchangani COVID-19 center – North A Unguja
6.  Mobile service. The center provides COVID-19 testing services at your Place
7. Mfikiwa COVID-19 testing center – Chakechake Pemba.

Note: If you test positive for Covid 19 72hrs before travel back to your Country you should take self-isolation for your expensive or your Travel insurance.

Travelers from other countries with a high risked  Covid 19 will get tested (RAPID TEST) soon as they arrive at the airport 25$ per traveler.

NB: Please do the test in the approved Centers only.

• Travelers will be checked at the airport for COVID-19 symptoms by measuring their temperature
• We strongly advise purchasing the VIP arrival with assistance to a lounge on arrival and skipping queues (85$ per arriving guest / 95$ at departure – cost does not include visa cost) as well as our private transfer to ensure privacy and sanitation protocols from the plane exit
• Travelers are encouraged to apply for online e-visas before arrival (10 days in advance recommended). The visa is also available to purchase on arrival.

Recommendations for guests (not mandatory):

• Wear face masks.
• Keep social distancing of 2m.
• Use hand sanitizers as much as possible.
